Foster The People partnered with the Do Good Bus to inspire community and volunteering across North America. In each city on the band's tour, the Do Good Bus loaded up with 30 volunteers and took them to a mystery volunteer activity in their community. Do-Gooders did everything from feeding the homeless to recycling mattresses to handing out books to kids. Each city was a unique experience and both Foster The People and the Do Good Bus hope to continue to inspire to do good, no matter where you are.

When I left Los Angeles, still spinning from packing and planning and fundraising, I knew there would be lessons to learn on the road. In fact, I had been warned.
After 40 days, 11,000 miles, at least 4 temper tantrums and a ridiculous amount of coffee -- I made it home safely and could barely remember what happened. There were pictures and video to prove it all existed, but when a friend asked, "Soooo, what'd you learn?" -- I didn't seem to have an answer. I could think of small things like: how to rip a matress apart, how deep to plant a tree and how many pinto beans fit into a 1/2lb bag.
But I wanted big juicy life lessons and aha! moments. I found myself sifting through pictures looking for an expression or a group shot that explained it all. Then after gathering everything I needed to create the page you're looking at now, I realized there was something pretty amazing we had accomplished; more than helping our neighbors or cleaning our streets.
We had done it all together.
The projects we accomplished in one hour with 30 willing hearts and hands would have taken weeks for someone on their own. Everything we did -- including just getting the bus on the road -- we did together. Mark, Ponsi, Cubbie, The Do Good Bus team and YOU. That's not a cheezy line, folks. That's truth. Without everyone who dared to hop on the bus or commited to giving a dollar:
This. Would. Not. Have. Happened.
So, thank you. (and you and you and you)
"What is that feeling when you're driving away from people and they recede on the plain till you see their specks dispersing? — it's the too-huge world vaulting us, and it's good-by. But we lean forward to the next crazy venture beneath the skies."
- Jack Kerouac, On the Road
Don't stop doing good,
